# Apple

  • The government on Monday imposed a ban on the import of apples that cost upto ₹50 per kg.
  • This decision may hit shipments of the fruit from Iran, UAE and Afghanistan.
  • Exception has been given for Bhutan.
  • The ban has come based on a recommendation from the agriculture ministry.
  • During the last financial year, apple imports were valued at nearly $300 million.

# Rajasthan

  • India could be poised to make its second discovery of lithium reserves.
  • Some media reports have suggested that Geological survey of India has found a large reserve of the critical mineral in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district.
  • US geological survey puts total lithium reserves globally at just 80.7 million tonnes.
