# Eastern Economic Forum

  • PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday further backed economic cooperation with Russia as he told president Vladimir Putin that India is keen to strengthen its partnership with Russia on Arctic issues and that there is immense potential for cooperation in the field of energy.
  • PM Modi was participating virtually in the plenary session of the Eastern economic forum, which promotes development in the remote Russian far East.
  • PM Modi will meet Putin and come face to face with Chinese President Xi Jinping next week in Uzbekistan at SCO summit, It is not clear yet if he will have structured bilaterals with either of the two leaders.

# Kartavya path

  • New Delhi municipal council in a special meeting on Wednesday passed the resolution for renaming Rajpath and central vista lawns as “Kartavya path”.
  • In exercise of the powers conferred under clause (a) of subsection 1 of section 231 of NDMC act, the chairperson with the sanction of the council, has approved the the renaming of the exciting Rajpath and central vista lawns as Kartavya path.
  • The length of the Kartavya path is 1.8 KM and the width is 12 metres.

# PM-SHRI school

  • The cabinet on Wednesday approved a ₹27360 crore scheme for the development of more than 14500 pradhanmantri school for rising India (PM-SHRI) across the country for the 2022-27 period.
  • The centre’s share in the scheme would be 18128 crore.
  • Under the scheme, over 14500 schools, including kendriya vidyalayas and Novodaya vidyalayas as well as those run by state governments and local bodies.

# CAATSA

  • Indian American congressman Ro Khanna has introduced a standalone bill in the house of representatives seeking a waiver for India against the punitive CAATSA sanctions.
  • The resolution has been backed by Congressman Brad Sherman and David Schweitzer.
