# MSP

  • The government on Wednesday approved an increase in the Minimum Support price of all 14 mandated kharif crops for 2023-24.
  • Paddy was the most popular Kharif crop in terms of acreage and output.
  • Paddy’s MSP was hiked by 7% or 143 rupees per quintal.
  • The MSP for key pulses like moong and oilseeds such as sesamum and groundnut were hiked over 10% in a signal to farmers to not only increase their returns but also reduce India’s dependence on imports to meet domestic requirements.
  • The MSP hike for paddy is the second steepest increase in the paddy MSP in last decade.

# Germany

  • An MoU to cooperate in Submarine production was inked between defence shipyard Mazagon Docks (MDL) and German company Thyssenkrupp Marine systems (TKMS) on Wednesday, as a precursor to submission of a bid for the over ₹42000 crore project to build six diesel electric Submarines to the Navy.
  • The non binding and non financial MoU was inked in the presence of visiting German defence minister Boris Pistorius.
  • P-75I was supposed to be the first project under the strategic partnership policy promulgated in May 2017.

# New York

  • An eye watering and cough inducing smoky haze from Canadian wildlife smothered a swath of the Eastern and Northern US on Tuesday.
  • Health alerts were issued from New York to the carolinas and as far West as Minnesota.
  • The New York’s air quality index was the worse in the world.

# BSNL

  • The Union cabinet on Wednesday approved the third revival package for BSNL, with a total outlay of ₹ 89047 crores.
  • With the third and the final revival package, the total financial support extended to BSNL has crossed ₹3.2 lakh crore.
