The maritime version of french fighter Rafale has emerged as the front runner over the American F/A-18 super hornet for the mega multi billion contract to supply 26 jets for Indian aircraft carriers.
The Navy has now submitted a detailed report on these two fighters, which were trial evaluated earlier this year.
Defense ministry will take the final decision on what will be eventually be government to government deal.
As of now the Navy is left with 40 of the 45 Mig-29 Ks inducted from Russia at the cost of $2 billion in 2009-10.
# FCRA
Sharing details of the grounds for cancellation of registration of two Gandhi family linked trusts under the Foreign contribution regulations act,2010 a couple of months ago.
Home ministry on Wednesday told the Rajya Sabha that the Rajiv Gandhi foundation (RGF) and Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust were found to have violated sections of the FCRA relating to the utilisation of foreign contributions.
Home ministry disclosed that FCRA registration of a total 6877 NGOs and associations was cancelled by the government over the five year period from 2017-2021.
# Retail prices
The average retail price of wheat has increased by nearly 5% and pulses in the range of 2-4% in the last one month.
The prices of all major edible oils barring palm oil have also marginally increased.
According to the reply submitted by the ministry, the average retail price of wheat on December 6 was Rs 31. 9 a kg as compared to ₹30.5 a month back.

The RBI on Wednesday cut its gdp growth forecast for 2022-23 citing accentuated headwinds from protracted geopolitical tensions and other factors.
The real gdp growth for 2022-23 is projected at 6.8%.
