# Farmer unions

  • Ministry of home affairs urged the protesting farmers to call of their agitation as most of their demands has been resolved.
  • In response samyukt kisan morcha sought clarifications on several points, including the withdrawal of cases against protestors.
  • The proposal from the MHA said that once the agitation is withdrawn, the cases will also be withdrawn.

# Omicron

  • According to researchers at the South African medical research council (SAMRC), Omicron variant is linked to a smaller proportions of deaths compared with the previous waves of Covid-19.
  • A smaller fraction of those admitted to the hospital needed supplemental oxygenation than during the earlier three waves.
  • India has so far reported 23 omicron cases, most of them linked having history of travel to Africa.

# Indian Institute of science

  • Researchers at the Indian Institute of science and their collaborators have identified a key role played by hydrogen sulphide gas in suppressing the Human immunodeficiency virus.
  • Increased hydrogen sulphide was found to have a direct effect on reducing the rate at which the virus multiplies in HIV infected human immune cells.
  • The findings pave the way for developing a more comprehensive antiretroviral therapy against HIV.

# China

  • China’s exports rose 21.4℅ to $325.5 billion in November but growth slowed, while imports accelerated in a sign of stronger domestic demand.
  • Imports surged 31.7℅ to $253 billion, faster than the previous months 20.6℅ rate.
