# Nipah virus

 

 

  • The number of people symptomatic for Nipah infection rose to 11 in kerela on monday.
  • A new laboratory under the aegis of the national institute of virology, pune, had been set up at MCH.

 

 

 

# Right to sit

 

 

  • Tamil nadu government introduced in the assembly on monday a revolutionary billĀ  recognising ‘right to sit’.
  • Kerela is only other state to have legislated on the ‘right to sit’.

 

 

 

# Farmers database

 

 

  • The centre has created a national farmers database, which it hopes to increase to 8 crore farmers by December by linking it to state land record databases.
  • Agriculture minister explained that the national database was created by taking data from existing national schemes such as PM-KISAN, soil health cards and others.

 

 

 

# BRICS, SCO, Quad

 

 

  • Prime minister Narendra modi will chair a meeting of BRICS leaders including chinese president Xi jinping, Russian president Vladmir Putin and others.
  • The PM will also attend via video conference the Shanghai cooperation organisation (SCO) heads of government meeting being held in Dushanbe.
  • PM Modi is expected to travel later this month to the US, to meet US president Joe biden.

  • Preliminary animal trial of vaccine against nipah is moving in a positive direction.
  • National institutes of health, United states, reported that the Chadoxl vaccine vector, when customised to the nipah virus, fully protected African green monkeys, a primate species.
