# Sensex

  • Global tailwinds helped the sensex close above 60000 once again after two weeks but some market analysts said the two days old rally could fizzle out after the Tuesday break due to the trading holiday on Holi.
  • Market players feel that despite strong economic data in the US amid raging inflation, the fed may not raise rates as aggressively as was being expected earlier.
  • The strong gains in Adani group stocks also boosted sentiments.
  • Seven of the ten Adani group stocks showed strong gains while ACC and Ambuja cements were in the red.

# India-Russia

  • Foreign minister S. Jaishankar held a virtual meeting with Russia’s deputy PM and minister for trade and industry Denis Manturov and co – chaired the India – Russia intergovernmental commission on Trade, economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation.
  • Both sides agreed to work together to unlock the full potential of India-Russia bilateral trade including through addressing the trade deficit and market access issues, said the government in a statement.
  • IRIGC-TEC is a mechanism for regularly monitoring bilateral progress across the sectors of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

# PV

  • Auto retail stayed in a healthy trajectory in February, through concerns around adverse impact on the monsoons as well inflation saw the industry strike a cautious note.
  • According to numbers released by dealers body FADA (Federation of automobile dealers Association), retail sales remained positive for cars and SUVs that falls under the passenger vehicles category.
  • PV sales stood at close to 2.9 lakh units in February 2023, a growth of 11% year on year and 16% higher when compared to the same month in pre covid times.

# Green norms

  • Over 6% of India’s operational industries (440989) currently don’t comply with one or the other environmental standards, risking air, water and soils due to discharge of effluents carrying various pollutants.
  • As per the compilation, shared by the environment ministry in Parliament, Punjab has the highest number (6293) of such polluting industries followed by Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
