# Cabinet reshuffle

 

 

  • The rashtrapati bhawan on tuesday announced a slew of new appointments of governors including that of union minister for social justice and empowerment Thawar chand gehlot as the governor of karnataka.
  • This is being seen as the surest sign that a cabinet reshuffle will finally take place as early as wednesday evening.
  • The government has also decided to create a separate “ministry of cooperation” with the aim of “sahkar se samriddhi” (prosperity through cooperatives).

 

 

 

# GST collections

 

 

  • Goods and services tax (GST) collections in june fell to 92,849 crore from 1.02 lakh crore in may.
  • It is for the first time in last eight months that indirect tax collections fell below the 1 lakh crore mark.
  • The finance ministry and other experts said that revenues will see an increase again from july onwards.

 

 

 

# Farm laws

 

 

  • The maharashtra government on tuesday introduced amendment bills in the state legislature to the three farm acts passed by the centre last august.
  • The bill to amend the farmers (Empowerment and protection) agreement on price assurance and farm service act,2020 stated that farming agreement shall not be valid unless the price paid to the farmer is equal to or greater than the MSP.
  • It also proposed that the farmer and sponsor can make farming agreement below MSP with mutual consent for maximum period of two years.

 

 

 

# Consulates in Afghanistan

 

 

  • India is watching the situation in the afghan cities of kandhar and mazar-e-sharif.
  • Taliban is gaining control of more districts of Afghanistan which increases the threats on Indian consulates in Aghanistan.
  • Many countries including Russia and Turkey have shut their consulates in Afghanistan.

 

 

 

# Crude oil prices

 

 

  • Oil prices climbed to multi year highs on tuesday after OPEC+ producers clashed over plans to raise supply to meet rising global demand.
  • Brent crude oil hit a session high of $77.84, a level not seen since october 2018.
