# India-Russia summit

  • The world has undergone several geopolitical changes, but the India-Russia friendship remained unchanged, Prime minister Narendra modi said on Monday at the 21st annual India-Russia summit with president Vladimir Putin.
  • The two countries held the first “2+2” Ministerial meeting.
  • Both sides renewed the military – technical cooperation agreement for another 10 years till 2030.
  • India and Russia also signed the deal for manufacture of AK-203 rifles in Amethi, Uttar pradesh.

# Caste census

  • Bihar chief minister Nitish kumar on Monday said the JD(u) wanted to have a caste census in the state and he would soon call an all party meeting to discuss its modalities.
  • Nitish kumar also said that he had asked BJP leaders to discuss the issue within its party.
  • Earlier in 2014-15, the census under the title “social and economic survey” was done in Karnataka”.
  • If the census gets done in Bihar, it will be the second state to do so.

# AFSPA

  • Many Members of parliament condemned the killing of civilians in Nalagand in botched up ambush by army.
  • Many MPs including Nagaland CM Neiphu Rio has called for withdrawal of AFSPA.

# Lok sabha

  • The Lok sabha on Monday passed a bill seeking to accord special status to six more institutes of pharmaceutical education and research and set up a council for these Institutes.
  • The current bill will amend the national Institute of pharmaceutical education and research act, 1998.

# Fertilizer subsidy

  • The centre’s fertilizer subsidy bill is set to soar 62℅ over the budgeted amount to 1.3 lakh crore this fiscal.
  • An unprecedented spike in natural gas prices and other raw materials is set to inflate the fertilizer subsidy bill by 62℅ or 50000 crore rupees.
