# Edible oil prices

• The prices of most major cooking oils dropped about 5-10 rupees a litre in Delhi and as much as 2o rupees per litre in some other cities.

• International edible oil prices remain high, but have stabilised over the past week.

• Food secretary also said that there were no plans to extend the free ration scheme introduced as covid-19 relief last year beyond November 30.

• Pradhan mantri garib kalyan yojana was rolled out in March 2020 and has been extended twice.

• It provides five kg of free foodgrains a month to the 80 crore beneficiaries of the national security food act.

# Delhi’s air quality

• Delhi’s air quality entered the “severe” category on friday for the first time this season after people in the city burst firecrackers on Deepavali night despite the blanket ban.

• The air quality imdex of Delhi was 444 at 6 am on friday.

• Delhi’s AQI a day after Deepavali in 2020 was 435, while it was 368 in 2019, 390 in 2018, 403 in 2017 and 445 in 2016.

# IIM Udaipur

• Focusing on the consumer needs of Southern Rajasthan’s tribal population, a consumer culture lab (CCL), established at the Indian institute of management (IIM), udaipur, has taken up research to find out the corelation between the choices of rural populace, Internet penetration in villages.

• The CCL was set up in 2020 as a unique initiative to develop an atmosphere of creative research in the field of management in order to bridge the knowledge gap and shift the focus on consumer culture.

# Iran

• Iran’s atomic agency said on friday that its stockpile of 20% enriched uranium has reached over 210 kilograms.

• It is the latest defiant move ahead of upcoming nuclear talks with the west.

• After months of delays, the european union, Iran and the US announced on wednesday that indirect talks to resuscitate the deal would resume on November 29 in Vienna.

# Technical textiles

• The annual growth rate of the technical textiles sector in the country should be in the 15-20% range in next five years, from the current 8%.

• The world market for technical textiles is $250 billion and India’s share is $19 billion.
