The latest UK home office statistics show that the numbers of Indians crossing the English channel on small boat has shot up in the first three months of the year.
Indians are now the second biggest cohort after Afghan to enter illegally in United Kingdom.
Majority of Indians entering the United Kingdom illegally via boats were from Punjab, apparently attracted by job opportunities in Britain.
Between January 1 and March 31,2023 a total of 3793 people arrived via small boats of which the most common nationality was afghans (909 or 24%) followed by Indians (675, 18%).

There is an increase of $4.5 billion from the previous week.
In October 2021, foreign exchange reserves had touched an all time high of $645 billion.
