# Manipur

  • Overnight violence has erupted in Manipur to resist any attempt by the government to include the majority meitei community in the scheduled tribe list.
  • Manipur authority had to call out the army at midnight to control the situation.
  • In addition, mobile internet, broadband services have been suspended in the state.
  • Over 9000 people have been evacuated from the violence hit areas.

# Caste survey

  • The patna high court on Thursday clamped an interim stay on the ongoing bihar survey, terming the exercise virtually a census by another name.
  • High court has dubbed it prima facie unconstitutional as it impinges on the legislative powers of the parliament.
  • The next hearing of the case will happen on July 3.
  • Census is defined as collection of empirical facts about individuals and survey as collection of opinion and perceptions of the general public.

# Telecom revenue

  • India’s telecom revenues have crossed a record ₹3 lakh crore for the first time due to higher consumption of data and content.
  • The growth also resulted in the government getting more earnings through the revenue share agreements, as it netted upwards of ₹16700 crores as part of license fee collections.

# Italy

  • Italy is highly unlikely to renew its belt and road initiative deal with China, which expires early next year.
  • Italy in 2019 became the first and so far only G7 country to join the BRI.
