# IPLĀ  postponed

 

 

  • The 2021 edition of the IPL came to an abrupt halt on tuesday, with the Board of control for cricket in India (BCCI) deciding to suspend the season midway.
  • The decision was made minutes after it was revealed that two players- Wriddhiman saha of SRH and Amit Mishra of DC – had contracted covid-19.
  • India will host the 16 nation T20 world cup, which may be shifted to UAE.

 

 

 

# Post-poll violence in Bengal

 

 

  • There are a number of violence related incidents being reported in Bengal in last 72 hours.
  • PM Narendra modi on tuesday called up West bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankad to get the account of violence in West bengal.
  • BJP national president JP Nadda flew to west bengal to visit the families of BJP worker killed in post poll violence.
  • CPI and congress leaders also complained that their workers are being targeted by TMC workers.

 

 

 

# 5G Trials

 

 

  • The department of telecommunications on tuesday gave permission to the telecom service providers to conduct trials for the use and application of 5G technology.
  • This formally leaves out chinese companies like Huawei and ZTE from the 5G race in India.
  • The applicant TSPs include Bharti airtel limited, Reliance jioinfocomm limited, vodafone-idea limited and MTNL.
  • These TSPs have tied up with original equipment manufacturers and technology providers, which are ericsson, Nokia, samsung and C-DOT.

 

 

 

# India-srilanka ties

 

 

  • As many as 86 persons from India, travelling on 11 boats, were on tuesday caught in srilankan waters tried to enter the island nation.
  • They were intercepted mid-sea and held there by the srilankan navy.
  • Srilankan navy has informed the Indian high commission, asking them to make arrangements for the navy to take them back.

 

 

 

# Pfizer vaccine

 

 

  • The US food and drugs association is set to approve the use of the pfizer two dose mRNA covid-19 vaccine for adolescents aged between 12 and 15 years.
  • The roll out could begin as nearly as next week.
