# Gujarat polls

  • The election Commission on Thursday announced two phase assembly polls in Gujarat on December 1 and 5.
  • Gujarat is ready for a three cornered contest in PM Modi’s home state that will see BJP seeking its seventh straight win since 1995.
  • Chief election commissioner Rajiv kumar, who unveiled the Gujarat polls schedule 19 days after announcing elections in Himachal pradesh, said counting for both elections will be held simultaneously on December 8.
  • The model code of conduct has come into immediate effect in Gujarat.

# UNSC

  • India abstained from voting on a resolution brought by Russia in the UN Security Council for a probe into allegations by Moscow that the Ukraine and the US are conducting military biological activities in Ukraine labs that violate the Biological weapons convention.
  • China was the only country to vote in favour apart from Russia.
  • UK, US and France voted against while India was among the 10 countries that abstained.

# The performing Grade index

  • The performing grade Index looks at the Indian education system as one of the largest in the world.
  • There are about 14.9 lakh schools, 95 lakh teachers and nearly 26.5 crore students from various socio economic backgrounds.
  • The education ministry on Thursday released PGI 2021-22.

# United kingdom

  • One in six or 10 million usual residents of England and Wales were born outside the UK and the most common country of birth was India.
  • The number of England and Wales residents born in India increased from 694148 in 2011 census to 920361 (1.5% of the usual resident population) in 2021.
