# Medical seats

 

 

  • The union health ministry has announced 27% reservation for the OBCs and 10% quota for the economically weaker sections (EWS) in the all India qouta scheme.
  • Reservation will be applied for under graduate and post graduate medical and dental courses from 2021-22.
  • The decision would benefit every year nearly 1500 OBC students at the under graduate level (MBBS) and 2500 students at the post graduate level .
  • The All India quota was introduced in 1986 under the directions of the supreme court to provide for domicile free merit based opportunities to students.

 

 

 

# Lok sabha

 

 

  • Lok sabha on thursday passed two bills before it was adjourned for the day.
  • The airports economic regulatory authority of India (AERA) amendment bill, 2021 and the Inland vessels bill, 2021 were passed without debate.
  • Opposition members kept protesting over the pegasus snooping issue and three farm laws.

 

 

 

# Nasal vaccine

 

 

  • Bharat biotech founder and CMD Keishna ella said on thursday that the company was expecting significant data on its intranasal vaccine in about two months.
  • This nasal vaccine is under trial by bharat biotech.
  • It is easy to ramp up production of this nasal vaccine upto 100 million a month.

 

 

 

# Engineering courses

 

 

  • The All India council of technical education (AICTE) is creating a database of resources to allow colleges to offer more programmes in regional languages.
  • AICTE has developed a tool to translate engineering course content into 11 languages.
  • The national education policy places a strong emphasis on education in the mother tongue.

 

 

 

# Rupee valuation

 

 

  • The Indian rupee strengthened to its highest levels in more than three weeks against the dollar.
  • The rupee was trading at 74.25 per dollar after reaching 74.38 per dollar earlier.
