# JEE

  • The qualifying percentile in JEE (main) to be eligible for JEE (advance), the gateway to 23 Indian Institutes of technology, registered a five year high for reserved category and a four year high for the general category.
  • Of the 11,13,325 candidates who took JEE (main) 2023, a total of 2,51,673 qualified to take JEE advanced.
  • The maximum number of successful candidates are from UP (31432), followed by Maharashtra (24205), and Telangana (23750).
  • Registration for JEE advanced starts on Sunday and will continue till May 5.
  • There is only one girl among 43 who got 100 percentile.

# Wheat price

  • The government has decided to sell wheat from its stock in the open market every quarter, starting from July this year, to control prices.
  • Till now the food corporation of India offered some of its food stocks only during the last quarter of the financial year, when availability of the winter crops dips.
  • The government is keen to ensure that food prices remain under check.
  • The average atta prices have fallen from ₹34 to ₹29 because of increase in supply after the government sold 34 lakh tonnes of wheat in open market.

# Nalanda university

  • Noted economist and the first Vice Chairman of NITI aayog Arvind panagariya has been appointed as the chancellor of Nalanda university.
  • He is the fourth chancellor of the university after Nobel laureate Amartya sen.
  • Arvind Panagariya earlier served as a member of the governing Board of Nalanda university.

# Space offensive

  • India needs to have space based offensive weapons in the future said IAF chief VR Chaudhary.
  • India has already built a anti satellite anticeptor missile.
