# China

  • China will allow some Indian students to return to resume their studies – after a two year pandemic induced gap – ” On a need assessed basis “, Indian officials said on Friday.
  • India accounts for among the highest number of foreign students in China with more than 20000 enrolled in Universities there, mostly in medical colleges.
  • They returned home when Covid-19 broke out in December 2019 and could not return due to covid curbs.
  • Earlier, Srilanka, Pakistan and South Korea had made the similar agreements.

# Coal shortage

  • Amid the possibility of a power crisis due to coal shortage, the Indian Railways has cancelled around 42 passenger trains to ensure faster delivery to and from coal producing regions of Chhattisgarh, orissa, Madhya pradesh and Jharkhand.
  • Railways has said that this is an interim measure and cancellation have mostly taken place in non priority sector and less busy routes.
  • As per official data, following the cancellations, the railways has raised the average daily loading of coal rakes over 400 per day, which is highest in the last few years.

# Ordnance factory board

  • Six of the seven new defence companies created by the corporatisation of the Ordnance factory board last October have reported provisional profits during the initial six months of their business.
  • Within the first six months, the new companies have achieved the turnover of more than ₹8400 crores.

# Turkey

  • Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has met with Saudi Arabia’s crown prince to develop relations in his first visit since the 2018 killings of Journalists Jamal khassoggi drove a wedge between sunni powers.
  • Both the premiers reviewed the Saudi-Turkish relations and ways to develop them in all fields.
