# Central vista

  • Prime minister Narendra Modi is likely to unveil the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at India gate next Thursday.
  • PM Modi is also likely to inaugurate the revamped Central Vista avenue or Rajpath for public use.
  • As part of the programme, the 28 feet statue of Netaji made from special black granite from Telangana will be unveiled beneath the canopy at India gate, which once featured a statue of British Monarch king George V.
  • Though the original deadline of the entire project was November 2021, the CPWD had to extend the deadlines due to various reasons like Covid-19.

# Uttar pradesh

  • The UP government on Wednesday took a decision to conduct a survey of unrecognized madarsas.
  • The move comes on the request from the National commission on protection of child rights to have a clear picture on the number of madarsas in order to assist the states in policymaking for the welfare of children.
  • At present, there are about 16500 madarsas in UP, out of which 588 are given government grants (salary to staff).

# Monsoon

  • Though the monsoon was 3.5% above the long period average in the country in August, the rain deficit during the month in West UP was 45%, in Bihar and East Up 37%.
  • The rainfall averaged over the country as a whole during September is most likely to be above normal said Indian meteorological department.
  • The long period average of rainfall over the country during the month of September is 167.9 mm.

# Srilanka

  • The international monetary Fund will provide Srilanka $2.9 billion over four years to help salvage the country from its worst economic crisis.
  • The arrangement will work to restore financial and macroeconomic stability and debt sustainability as well as unlock the country’s growth potential.
