# Regional security dialogue

  • China, Russia, Iran and four central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan – joined India in strongly condemning terrorism in a joint statement.
  • This joint statement was issued after the 4th NSA level regional security dialogue in Dushanbe while also calling for dismantling of terror camps in Afghanistan and the region.
  • The joint statement India signed on mentioned the view that countries responsible for the current situation in Afghanistan should fulfill their obligations for economic reconstruction of Afghanistan.

# National achievement survey

  • The academic disruptions due to the covid-19 situation, with nearly a quarter of school children not having accesss to any digital devices, led to further deepening of the learning crisis in the country.
  • When compared to the previous survey conducted in 2017, the national achievement survey 2021 of over 34 lakh students from classes 3,5,8 and 10 indicated that the worst hit are those studying in state government run schools.
  • The significant drop in national average scores across subjects and classes in this period points towards students struggling, especially in mathematics and science in higher classes.

# Indigo

  • Civil aviation regulator DGCA has fined private carrier indigo ₹5 lakh for deficient handling of a special child who was not allowed by the airlines ground staff at ranchi airport to be bored with his parents on May 7.
  • The DGCA is set to revise rules in this regard.

# Tata motors

  • The decks are clear for automaker Tata motors to take over ford India’s passenger car manufacturing plant in Sanand, near Ahmedabad.
  • Ford motor Company announced its exit from India operations late last year.
