# Dadasaheb phalke award

  • Veteran actor Asha parekh will be conferred the Dadasaheb phalke award for 2020, the highest recognition in the field of Indian cinema.
  • Union Minister and Broadcasting minister Anurag thakur announced on Tuesday.
  • Asha parekh, 79, will receive the award from President Draupadi Murmu at the 68th National film awards on September 30.
  • The recommendation to confer on Asha Parekh the Dadasaheb phalke award was taken by a five member jury comprising Asha Bhosale, Hema malini, Poonam Dhillon, Udit Narayan and T S Nagabharana.
  • She was the first woman to head the Central board of film certification (CBFC) from 1998-2001.
  • Asha parekh was conferred the Padma shri in 1992.
  • Dadasaheb phalke award was constituted in 1969.

# Foreign tourist football

  • Foreign tourist arrivals crashed another 45% to 1.5 million in 2021.
  • The India tourism statistics 2022 was released by vice president Jagdeep Dhankar and union minister G Kishan Reddy.
  • While FTAs registered a decline, this was compensated in parts by a 53% increase in arrivals of NRIs in 2021.

# Supreme Court

  • Taking a big step towards ensuring Judicial transparency, the Supreme Court on Tuesday began live streaming its proceedings that people can watch on their mobiles and computers.
  • Though only three Constitution benches proceedings were webcast on YouTube by the national informatics centre, there is no doubt that all courtrooms will soon function under camera glare.

# Stubble burning

  • The season of farm fires in Punjab and Haryana has begun, satellites recording around 200 fire counts in this season so far.
  • The widespread post harvest practices of burning of paddy crop stubbles in Punjab and Haryana is a major contributor to air pollution in North India in October and November.
