In a rare outpouring of public anger against the state, hundreds of people took to the streets in Shanghai and Beijing on Sunday to protest China’s strict covid curbs.
Protestors were calling for the removal of Xi Jinping, the country’s all powerful leader and an end to Chinese communist parties rule.
Police in Shanghai forcibly cleared the demonstrators, but hours later people rallied again in the same spot.
A crowdsourced list on social media showed there were demonstrations at 50 universities.
# Small nuclear reactors
Recognising the critical role of nuclear power in India’s clean energy transition, the government on Sunday said the government is taking steps for development of small modular reactors with upto 300 MW capacity.
The smaller modules are not only cost effective but also simpler and safer as compared to large nuclear plants.
Being mobile and agile technology, SMR can be factory built, unlike the conventional nuclear reactors that are built on site, and can significantly save construction time.

Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah al sisi will be the chief guest at the republic Day celebrations in January, the ministry of external affairs said on Sunday.
This is the first time that the president of the Arab Republic of Egypt is chief guest of Republic day.
