# Twitter delaying rules

 

 

  • Twitter on thursday complained about “intimidation tactics” by the Delhi police.
  • Indian government has called these allegations baseless, false and an attempt to defame India to hide their own follies.
  • Twitter, Whatsapp and other social media companies are trying to delay the enactment of new IT guidelines.
  • The Information and Broadcasting ministry has asked digital media platforms to submit compliance reports as per the new intermediary rules under the IT act within 15 days.

 

 

 

# GST council meet

 

 

  • Opposition ruled states will press the centre to waive taxes levied on covid-19 relief material, including vaccines.
  • States will also seek a speedy payment of their compensation dues in the GST council meet.
  • GST council is chaired by union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and is reconvening after a seven month break on friday.

 

 

 

# Lakshadweep reforms

 

 

  • The reforms rolled out in Lakshadweep are aimed at the betterment of islands said Lakshadweep collector S. Asker Ali.
  • The reforms were aimed at optimising the potential of the Isles, mainly in the tourism, fisheries and agriculture sectors.

 

 

 

# BRICS ministerial meeting

 

 

  • Amidst continuing tensions between India and China at the line of actual control, external affairs minister S. Jaishankar and Chinese foreign minister Wang yi will participate on tuesday in a virtual BRICS ministerial meeting chaired by India.
  • The meeting will also discuss the patent waiver of vaccines by WTO.
  • More than 60 countries have supported patent waiver including US.

 

 

 

# Coronavirus origin

 

 

  • US president Joe Biden announced on wednesday that he had asked American intelligence agencies to “redouble” their efforts to analyze the origins of Covid-19.
  • There are fresh reports coming which suggests that coronavirus is lab made and not natural.
