# Deepar beel

 

 

  • On August 25, the ministry of Environment, forest and climate change notified the eco-sensitive zone of Deepar beel wildlife sanctuary.
  • Deepar beel wildlife sanctuary is located on the southwestern edge of Guwahati.
  • Deepar beel is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Assam and the state’s only Ramsar site.

 

 

 

# Merger of black holes

 

 

  • A rare merging of three supermassive black holes has been spotted by a team of astrophysicists from the Indian institute of Astrophysics (IIA).
  • This is only the third time such an event has been observed and the findings were published as a letter in the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics in June.

 

 

 

# Vaccination drive

 

 

  • India administered more than one crore Covid-19 vaccine doses on friday.
  • This is the highest vaccination achieved in a single dose.

 

 

 

# Faunal wealth

 

 

  • India has added 557 new species to its fauna, which includes 407 new species and 150 new records.
  • This has been revealed in Animal discoveries, 2020 , a document published recently by the zoological survey of India (ZSI).
  • The number of faunal species in India has climbed to 102718 species with the discovery of the new species.

 

 

 

# India-Australia

 

 

  • The trade ministers of India and Australia have agreed to speed up trade negotiations with an aim to reach an interim ‘early harvest’ pact by December for liberalising the bilateral flow of goods and services.
  • This trade agreement will increase the trade volume by manifold.
