The monsoon this year may have a sluggish start with the country receiving “below normal” rainfall in June.
However, the entire four months (June-September) period is likely to collectively get “normal” rainfall, according to the latest forecasts of the Indian meteorological department released on Friday.
There is a 55% probability of “normal to above normal” rainfall during the season in India.
However, NorthWest India including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and western UP may get “below normal” rainfall.

Nepal is likely to make an official announcement on Saturday about PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal prachanda’s visit to India starting May 31.
Nepal foreign ministry sources in Kathmandu said the visit will take place from May 31 to June 3 and the ministry will make a formal announcement on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Nepalese ambassador to India Shankar Prasad sharma called on minister for External Affairs S. Jaishankar in Delhi this week and discussed Prachanda’s upcoming visit.
