Instant messaging app Whats app has approached the Delhi high court challenging the central government’s new information technology rules, 2021.
This new rule include a requirement for social media platforms to compulsorily enable ” the identification of the first originator of the information” in India upon government or court order.
The facebook owned company argued that this provision forces it to break end-to-end encryption on its messaging service, as well as the privacy principles underlying it.
On other hand, the ministry of electronics and information technology has written to all significant social media intermediaries, who have over 50 lakh registered users in the country, requesting details of compliance.
# Covid-19 cases
India recorded 2,02,570 new covid-19 cases and 3570 deaths on wednesday.
As many as 22,17,320 samples were tested in the country on tuesday.
More than 20 lakh doses of vaccine was administered on wednesday.
# Jharkhand vaccine wastage
Union government has listed the Jharkhand as the states with high vaccine wastage upto 34%.
Jharkhand government denied it and said that due to technical error, actual vaccine usage has not been updated.
# Bodoland territorial region
The Assam government on wednesday created the welfare of Bodoland department for dealing with issues related to four districts under the Bodoland Territorial region.
The affairs of Bodoland were under the welfare of plain tribes and backward classes department earlier.
# Currency swap
Bangladesh on tuesday cleared a $200 million currency swap facility for Srilanka.
In April 2021, Srilanka’s foreign reserves stood at $4.5 billion, about the same amount that the country is due to settle this year in external loan repayments.
India has withheld $1.1 billion currency swap agreement request of Srilanka.
