# G7

  • To counter China’s flagship trade and infrastructure initiative, US President Joe Biden and other G7 leaders formally launched in Germany the partnership for global infrastructure (PGII), after an earlier campaign faltered.
  • The PGII initiative is meant to mobilise hundreds of billions of dollars and deliver quality, sustainable infrastructure.
  • Among key flagship projects under PGII, one of them is the US international development finance Corporation investing upto $30 million in Omnivore agritech and climate sustainability fund 3, a venture capital fund that invests in entrepreneurs building the future of the Indian economy in India.

# PM Modi

  • PM Modi arrived in Munich on Sunday to attend the G7 summit where he will hold meetings with G7 and partner countries.
  • The PM interacted with the Indian community at Audi dome, Munich.
  • Prime minister Narendra Modi in his bilateral talks with the Argentinian president Alberto Fernandez in Munich on Sunday.

# Gold coin

  • After an almost four decades of futile search for the missing 12 kg gold coin touted as the world’s biggest coin ever minted, the centre has renewed its hunt for priceless artefacts.
  • It was last seen in the possession of titular Nizam VIII of Hyderabad, Mukarram Jah, who purportedly tried to auction the coin at Swiss bank.
  • The last Nizam has inherited the coin minted by emperor Jahangir.

# Russia

  • The US and other G7 countries will ban imports of gold from Russia, seeking to undercut a key source of revenue for Moscow.
  • Russia is one of the World’s biggest gold producers, and the metal is its second most valuable export items after energy.
