Army’s aviation wing is attempting to replace ageing fleet of cheetah and chetak helicopter by new procurement of helicopters.
The army has 90 Advanced light helicopter and 75 Rudra helicopter (combat helicopter) in service which are indigenously designed and developed by HAL.
The army aviation is also gearing up for some major inductions in the next couple of years including the AH-64 Apache, considered the world’s best attack helicopter.
These helicopter will be delivered as early as 2023 and will be in operation within a year.
# Omar abdullah’s demands
National conference vice-president Omar abdullah on saturday said his party will keep pushing for delimitation first, followed by statehood and election.
He said chronology should be delimitation-statehood-election rather than delimitation-election-statehood.
Omar abdullah said congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad also demanded the same chronology of process to be followed.
# India-greece relations
India and Greece have held discussions over the situation in Cyprus during the visit of external affairs minister S. Jaishankar visit to Athens.
Both sides discussed the recent developments pertaining to the Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus and Libya.
The condition in nearby Republic of Cyprus has become tense in the backdrop of Ankara’s plan to mark the anniversary of 1974 invasion of the Island by turkish forces.
# Ayodhya – a spiritual city
PM Narendra modi on saturday chaired a meeting along with CM of Uttar pradesh yogi adityanath to review the work done in Ayodhya to develop it as a spiritual city and a global tourism hub.
PM modi said that Ayodhya should manifest the finest of Indian traditions and best of its developmental traditions.
An upcoming greenfield township was discussed which includes lodging facilities for devotees, space for ashrams, mutts, hotels and bhavans of various states.
A tourism facilitation centre and a world class museum will also be built.
# Covid-19 vaccination drive
India administered 61.9 lakh doses of covid-19 vaccines on saturday.
Between June1 and 25, 39.5 lakh doses were administered daily in India on an average.
To fully inoculate all adults by the end of this year, 82.4 lakh doses needed to be given on average in the country.
