# Third wave of Covid

  • Hospitalisation trends from major states suggest it is so far less pernicious than the previous wave.
  • States that account for the major chunks of active cases have still 95℅ of their covid bed vacant.
  • According to data from states, the hospitalisation is only 3.5% against 8% in the second wave.
  • India reported 2,82,371 fresh cases on Wednesday.

# Budget session of parliament

  • Detailed covid protocol has been put in place for the upcoming budget session of the parliament.
  • It includes time restrictions on the parliamentary speeches and also restricting access to the central hall of the parliament after the working hours.
  • Both houses of the parliament will work in shifts.
  • Rajya sabha will function from 10 am till 3 pm and loksabha from 3 pm till adjournment.

# Republic Day celebration

  • India celebrated its 73rd Repulic day across the country on Wednesday with the annual parade held at Rajpath.
  • For the second consecutive year, the celebrations were held without a chief guest due to the pandemic.
  • Celebrations included series of tableau and cultural performances showcasing the nations’s cultural diversity and military might.

# Central Asia summit

  • Prime minister Narendra Modi will hold the first India central Asia summit via video conferencing.
  • Summit will be attended by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
  • Several issues including trade and connectivity, developmental projects will be discussed in the Summit.
