# Bank loan fraud

  • Three days after arresting Chanda kochar, former ICICI bank Managing director and her husband Deepak kochar, the CBI on Monday arrested Videocon group Chairperson V N Dhoot.
  • All three of them are arrested in connection with the same case of an alleged loan fraud.
  • The case filed in January 2019, alleged ICICI bank had given six high value loans including one of the ₹300 crore to videocon group companies in 2009 for which Chanda kochar allegedly received ‘illegal gratification’ of ₹64 crore.

# Ex-CJI

  • More than 40 peons and staffers worked at the official residence of EX CJI at 19 Akbar road during his 74 day tenure as Chief Justice of India.
  • Except for the number of support staff engaged at Rashtrapati Bhawan Or at the prime minister’s office, no ther constitutional post holder would have had such a large retinue of support staffs and peons at their residences.
  • Even after one and a half months after his retirement as many as 28 peons and staffs works at his 19 Akbar road residence.

# Weekly covid cases

  • The comparison of Covid numbers in the week ending this Sunday with the previous one shows that 16 states and union territories reported an increase in Weekly cases.
  • At the global level too, the seven days average of daily cases has seen a slow but steady decline in the past six days.
  • With a 7 day average of 1.3 lakh cases, Japan remains the worst hit country in the I’m going wave and is followed by the USA and South Korea.

  • Nepal’s new government led by the former Maoist rebel chief will try to balance ties with India and China.
  • Pushpa kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ was sworn in as the PM for the third time.
