PM Modi has termed India as the “mother of all democracies” in his UNGA speech.
In a wide ranging address, PM Modi spoke about climate change, poverty alleviation, developments in Afghanistan and UN security council reform.
He also took aim at Pakistan and China respectively with references to support to terror groups and violating the international rules based order.
Mr Modi did not mention either country by name, In contrast to Pakistan PM Imran khan who named India more than a dozen times, in a speech that focused on Kashmir.
# Cultural mapping
The national mission on cultural mapping (NMCM), which was launched in 2017, has shown very little progress.
This programme has now been handed over to the Indira Gandhi National centre for the arts (IGNCA).
It is gearing up for a trial run for mapping 75 villages in october based on cultural heritage.
The cultural ministry had approved the mission in 2017 with a 469 crore rupees budget from 2017-18 to 2019-20.
# Quad
From detailling commitments on Covid-19 vaccines and climate to launching a new infrastructure partnership, the Quad leaders summit announced a wide range of deliverables.
In their joint statement, the Quad leaders declared they would closely coordinate their “diplomatic, economic and human rights policies” towards Afghanistan and deepen their counter terrorism.
# China-Canada
China’s government had insisted that the more than 1000 day imprisonment of Canadians was not an alleged case of “Hostage diplomacy”.
The two Canadians were detained in 2018, shortly after Canada’s arrest of top Huawei’s executive Meng at vancouver airport, based on US warrant.

Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday urged Germans to give her would be successor Armin Lanchet the vote to shape Germany’s future.
Mr. Lachet, 60, has been trailing his social democrat challenger Olaf Scholz in the race for the Chancellory.
