# Padma awards

  • General Bipin Rawat, India’s first chief of defense staff, who died recently in a helicopter crash has been selected for Padma vibhushan posthumously.
  • Former chief minister of Uttar pradesh Kalyaan singh who was the chief minister when Babri masjid was demolished has also been selected for Padma vibhushan posthumously.
  • Padma vibhushan is the second highest civilian award after Bharat ratna.
  • Congress leader and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulaam Nabi azad and former CM of West Bengal Buddhadev bhattacharya, bharat biotech’s Suchitra Ella and Krishna Ella, SII’s head Cyrus poonawala are also selected for Padma bhushan.
  • Gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, Avani lakhera and singer Sonu Nigam are selected for Padma shri.
  • Satya Narayana Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft corporation, Sundararajan pichai, CEO google and Alphabet are accorded with Padma Bhushan.

# Covid-19

  • India recorded 2,84,357 new covid-19 cases on Tuesday.
  • The total number of infections has reached 3.98 crore.
  • The number of active cases have crossed the 22.3 lakh mark.
  • Kerela recorded 55475 infections on Tuesday, followed by Karnataka and Maharashtra.

# Ukraine

  • Russia on Tuesday launched new military exercises near Ukraine and in annexed crimea.
  • Recently, US has ordered approximately 9000 soldiers on standy fearing escalation in tensions.
  • Russia has already stationed 100000 soldiers on Ukraine border.

# BPCL

  • Bharat petroleum corporation limited on Tuesday said it will invest 10000 crore rupees over the next five years.
  • BPCL won licenses to retail CNG to automobiles and supply piped natural gas for cooking purposes in six geographical areas.
