# IITs

  • The cream of the JEE toppers – the top 100 – has overwhelmingly picked IIT Bombay at the close of first round admissions of 2022-23.
  • This made IIT Bombay most sought after tech college, with Delhi and Madras a distant second and third.
  • Ninety three of top 100 have opted for the Powai based college as their first choice.
  • All of them excluding one opted for computer science branch.
  • 69 have made the cut and others have to opt for Delhi and Madras.

# Iran

  • State organised demonstrations took place in Several Iranian cities on Friday to counter Anti hijab protests triggered by the death of a woman in Police custody over hijab.
  • The agitations followed the strongest warnings from authorities.
  • Iranians have staged mass protests over the case of Mahasa amini, 22, who died last week after being arrested by the morality police for wearing “unsuitable attire”.
  • Rights groups such as Hehgaw and HRANA, lawyers and social media users reported widespread arrests of students and activists at their homes, by security forces.

# AIIMS, ICMR

  • Dr M Srinivas, dean of ESI hospital and medical college Hyderabad will suceed Dr Randeep Guleria as director of AIIMS delhi.
  • Dr Rajiv Bahl, who was head of research on maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health in WHO is the new ICMR chief.

# Canada

  • India on Friday advised its nationals in Canada and those travelling to that country to remain vigilant.
  • The advisory came in the view of the sharp increase in incidents of hate crimes and anti India activities.
