The enforcement Directorate on Saturday arrested West Bengal Industry and commerce minister and senior Trinamool congress leader Partha chatterjee in connection with irregularities in recruitment to the West Bengal school service commission.
Partha chatterjee had been the state education minister from 2014 to 2021, when the alleged irregularities occurred.
On Friday, the agency seized cash and jewellery worth ₹20 crore from the residence of minister’s associate, Arpita mukherjee.
# Monkey pox
The world Health Organization has declared the global monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern, one step below that of a pandemic.
The monkeypox outbreak has affected more than 14500 people in 72 countries.
So far, three cases have been confirmed in India – all in men, and in Kerala, with a history of travel to the United arab Emirates.
The highest number of cases are currently reported from the countries in the European region and the Americas.
