# Omicron

  • Omicron is now in community transmission in India.
  • Omicron has become dominant in many metros, where case are rising exponentially.
  • This has been said by Indian SARS-COV-2 Genomics consortium (INSACOG).
  • INSACOG, Jointly initiated by the Union health and family welfare ministry, the department of biotechnology and others is a consortium of 38 laboratories monitoring the genomic variations in SARS-COV-2, the novel coronavirus causing covid-19.

# Republic Day celebrations

  • The Christian hymn ‘Abide with me’ has been dropped from the beating retreat event this year.
  • Government sources have said that this has been done to include more Indian tunes to the beating retreat ceremony.
  • This year only Indian origin or indigenous tunes are on the list.
  • ‘Abide with me’ has been replaced by Ae mere watan ke logon.

# Gujarat tableau

  • Gujarat government has announced the theme of the state’s tableau on republic day.
