One person was killed and six persons were injured in an explosion at the district court complex in Ludhiana on Thursday.
Political parties said the incident was an attempt to create disturbances in Punjab ahead of the assembly election in early 2022.
Chief minister Charanjit singh channi drew a parallel between the registration of an FIR against Shiromani akali dal leader Bikram singh Majithia and the Ludhiana blast as well as the recent sacrilege incidents.
# J&K delimitation
Provisions in delimitation act 1952 says that other than population, other factors like physical features, boundaries of administrative units, communication facilities and public convenience should be taken into account while drawing constituency boundaries.
Opposition parties in J&K are questioning the delimitation exercise for considering other factors than population in creating assembly constituencies.
Members of delimitation commission has given reference of uttarakhand where factors such as physical geography was also considered in creating new constituencies.
# Anti-conversion bill
The Karnataka assembly on Thursday adopted the contentious, anti-conversion karnataka protection of right to freedom of religion bill, 2021.
The bill was passed through a voice vote as the congress and Janta dal secular members staged a dharna in the well of the house.
BJP questioned the decision of congress to oppose the bill as the same bill was drafted by congress government in 2016.
# Omicron
Preliminary data suggest that people with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus are between 50℅ and 70℅ less likely to need hospitalisation than those with Delta variant, Britain’s public health agency said.
Agency also said that the Omicron variant sprads much more faster and evades vaccines.
AstraZeneca said that booster dose or third dose of it’s vaccine is effective on Omicron.
