# Crime in capital

  • Last month, the national capital witnessed at least six incidents – the highest in a month this year – of rage crimes or murders under sudden provocations over trivial issues.
  • These crimes have been perperated for reasons such as disputes over parking, not paying for cigarettes, loud music etc.
  • A fast paced lifestyle, economic imbalance in society and constant work pressure also prompts a person towards such drastic steps.

# Three capitals move

  • The Andhra pradesh assembly on Monday passed a bill to repeal the AP decentralization and inclusive development of all regions act (aimed at setting up three capitals).
  • The government plans to bring a more comprehensive law that ‘dispels the wrong notions of the land givers in Amravati’ and clarifies it’s position on the legalities raised by petitioners in the high court.
  • YSRCP government is against the plan to build a Greenfield capital city of Amravati at huge cost.

# India-Afghanistan

  • One month after India offered humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, Pakistan’s prime minister imran khan said his government would allow the aid to transit over the land through Pakistan.
  • India will send 50000 MT of wheat as humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
  • The offer of wheat and other medical supplies was made formally to the Taliban regime by ministry of external affairs.

# Gallantry awards

  • Group captain Abhinandan varthaman, who was held captive for three days by Pakistan after he chased down and shot down a pakistani fighter jet in 2019, was awarded Vir chakra.
  • Vir chakra is the third highest wartime gallantry award.

# Booster covid shots

  • Indian council of medical research has said that there is no scientific evidence so far to support the need for a booster vaccine dose against covid-19.
  • According to sources, the issue of booster covid shots is likely to be discussed in the next meeting of the national technical advisory group on immunisation in India (NTAGI).
