• The faction refused to relent even as Thackeray made an emotional appeal to the rebels in the Facebook live, even offering to resign.

• Amidst the rumour of assembly dissolution, experts say that assembly cannot be dissolved until confidence vote is won by the government.

# Russia

• Slamming the West for introducing politically motivated sanctions against Russia, President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday said there had been a noticeable increase in exports of Russian oil to India and China.
• Putin said this while addressing the virtual BRICS business forum that was organised by Chinese presidential Xi jinping, which was also addressed by PM Modi.
• In the first three months of this year, trade between Russian Federation and BRICS countries Increased by 38% and reached $45 billion.
• President Putin said that negotiations are underway to open Indian chain stores in Russia.

# IGI airport

• Indira Gandhi international airport, which is India’s busiest airport, has switched to renewable sources for its energy needs.
• It has been using only hydro and solar power for its energy needs since June 1 this year.
• The Delhi airport has become the first airport in India to run entirely on a combination of solar and hydro power.
• In 2015, Cochin international airport in Kerala become had become the first airport in the country to run entirely on Solar energy.

# Current account deficit

• The current account deficit for the fourth quarter of the FY 2022 came in at $13.4 billion, which works out to be 1.5% of the GDP.
• The CAD declined from $22.2 billion or 2.6% of GDP in Q3 FY 22.
