# Supreme Court

  • The Supreme Court on Monday terminated the mandate of its committee of Administrators (CoA) to manage the affairs of the All India football federation (AIFF) to overcome the suspension of the Indian football body by FIFA.
  • A supreme Court bench said it was modifying its orders while bearing in mind the “unquestioned importance” of having India host the U-17 women’s world Cup in October.
  • The Court transferred the day to day management of the AIFF from the hands of the COA to the federation’s administration led by its acting secretary general.
  • The government had urged the Court to scrap its COA which was assigned the job to run the AIFF and draft a Constitution for it.

# Tomato flu

  • A new infection dubbed tomato flu or tomato fever has been detected in India mostly among children younger than five, according to a report in the Lancet Respiratory journal.
  • The non life threatening virus was first identified in Kollam district of Kerala on May 6.
  • It further said that this endemic viral illness triggered an alert in Tamil nadu and Karnataka.

# India-Iran

  • In a bid to aid the movement of seafarers between the two countries, India and Iran on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding on recognition of certificates of competency in unlimited voyages to help seafarers from both countries.
  • The MoU was signed during a bilateral meeting between the Union Minister for ports shipping and waterways Sarbanand Sonowal and Iranian counterpart.

# Auto parts sector

  • The auto components industry in the country registered its highest ever turnover of ₹4.2 lakh crore in 2021-22.
  • It is expected to maintain double digit growth in the current fiscal as well, driven by increased demand amid fewer supply chain disruptions.
