Former Jharkhand governor and National democratic Alliance candidate Draupadi Murmu has been elected the 15th President of India.
She is the first tribal woman to be elected for this position and the youngest as well.
After four rounds of counting, Draupadi murmu received 2824 votes of 6,76,803 value while Yashwant Sinha got 1877 votes of 3,80,177 value.
Draupadi murmu received 64.03% of the total valid votes.
# Srilanka
Ranil Wickramasinghe, who was sworn in as a president of Srilanka on Thursday is expected to appoint long time Rajapaksha loyalist and senior politician Dinesh Gunawardena as Prime minister.
Ranil Wickramasinghe will continue with the appointed cabinet untill opposition parties are ready to cooperate in an all party government.
Ranil Wickramasinghe is himself facing criticism after being elected as president.
# NITI aayog
Karnataka has bagged the top rank in NITI aayog’s India innovation index 2022.
The Karnataka has held this position, under the major states category, in all editions of the index so far.
In the index released on Thursday, Manipur secured the lead in the North East and hill states.
Chandigarh was the top performer in the Union territories and city states category.
Karnataka was followed by Telangana, haryana, Maharashtra and Tamil nadu.
Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar and Gujarat were at the bottom of the Index.
