# 15th president of India

  • Former Jharkhand governor and National democratic Alliance candidate Draupadi Murmu has been elected the 15th President of India.
  • She is the first tribal woman to be elected for this position and the youngest as well.
  • After four rounds of counting, Draupadi murmu received 2824 votes of 6,76,803 value while Yashwant Sinha got 1877 votes of 3,80,177 value.
  • Draupadi murmu received 64.03% of the total valid votes.

# Srilanka

  • Ranil Wickramasinghe, who was sworn in as a president of Srilanka on Thursday is expected to appoint long time Rajapaksha loyalist and senior politician Dinesh Gunawardena as Prime minister.
  • Ranil Wickramasinghe will continue with the appointed cabinet untill opposition parties are ready to cooperate in an all party government.
  • Ranil Wickramasinghe is himself facing criticism after being elected as president.

# NITI aayog

  • Karnataka has bagged the top rank in NITI aayog’s India innovation index 2022.
  • The Karnataka has held this position, under the major states category, in all editions of the index so far.
  • In the index released on Thursday, Manipur secured the lead in the North East and hill states.
  • Chandigarh was the top performer in the Union territories and city states category.
  • Karnataka was followed by Telangana, haryana, Maharashtra and Tamil nadu.
  • Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar and Gujarat were at the bottom of the Index.

  • Italian premier Matil Draghi resigned on Thursday after his ruling coalition fell apart.
  • President of Italy is likely to announce a fresh election soon.
