# G7

  • Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky brought his call for support against Russia’s invasion to a group of seven summit on Saturday to Japan.
  • G7 leaders agreed to tighten sanctions against Moscow and pare back exposure to China.
  • The Ukrainian President’s attendance at the G7 summit in Hiroshima, the first city to suffer a nuclear attack, put in sharp relief western concerns over the nuclear threat posed by Russia.
  • Leaders of the G7 – the US, Japan, Germany, Britain, France, Italy and Canada – are grappling with the Challenges posed by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and tensions with China.

# Mig 21

  • The IAF has grounded its entire fleet of around 60 old Mig 21 bison fighters for comprehensive checks after the recent Mig crash.
  • Around 55 military personnel have lost their lives in over 50 different aircraft and helicopter crashes in last five years.
  • Mig 21 and chetak helicopters which number around 350 in the armed forces should have been retired a couple of decades back.
  • Both these machines are of vintage design of the 1960s and lack modern avionics and in built safety mechanisms.

# CBI

  • The CBI on Saturday filed a chargesheet against senior Congress leader Jagdeesh tytler in connection with a case in North Delhi pertaining to the anti sikh riots in 1984.
  • Three people were killed when a gurudwara was set on fire in the Bara hindu rao area of the capital on November 1 of 1984.
  • The CBI had registered this case on November 22,2005.

# Yamuna

  • National green tribunal has given its approval to Delhi development authority for constructing a lighthouse in the Greenway near Yamuna for additional security and surveillance.
  • It was, earlier approved by the high level committee which was formed by the tribunal for the river’s rejuvenation.
