Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday the world is passing through challenges such as war, economic instability, terrorism, religious extremism and climate change and asserted that centuries ago Lord Buddha’s teachings offered a solution to these problems.
The Global buddhist summit is seen as an important initiative of the Modi government to resist China’s bid, as part of its larger aggressive approach for pursuing diplomatic objectives, to project itself as home to Buddhism.
The PM Modi said there are no problem in the modern world whose solution could not be found in the teachings of the Buddha.
The Summit is being co hosted by the ministry of culture and international buddhist Confederation on April 20 and 21.

Many of Twitter’s high profile users are losing the blue check marks that helped verify their identify and distinguish them from impostors on the Elon Musk owned media platform.
After several false starts, twitter began making good on its promise on Thursday to remove the blue checks from accounts that do not pay a monthly fee to keep them.
Twitter had about 300000 verified users under the original blue check system.
High profile users who lost their blue checks included Beyonce, pope Francis and Donald Trump.
# Assam-Arunachal
Taking a big step in establishing “long lasting peace” In the North East, Assam and Arunachal pradesh on Thursday signed a pact to settle the decades old border dispute relating to 123 villages spread over the 700 Km inter state border.
The boundary agreement was signed by Assam CM Himanta Bishwa Sharma and Arunachal pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu in the presence of Home minister Amit shah in New Delhi.
The dispute was persisting for several decades since formation of Arunachal pradesh.

Sudan’s military has ruled out any negotiations with the rival paramilitary forces to end the crisis and said it will accept only Surrender.
The two sides have been battling Since Saturday for control of the strategic African nation.
