# United Kingdom

  • A UK court on Wednesday issued a formal order to extradite Wikileaks founder Julian Assange to the US to face trial over the publication of secret files relating to the Iraq and Afghanistan war.
  • The decision now rests with the interior minister Priti patel to take final call.
  • Julian Assange may still appeal within 14 days of any decision to approve the extradition.

  • He is a member of the Science, technology and innovation advisory Council and is a physicist known for his work on graphene.
  • He is a distinguished professor of physics at the Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru.

# e-commerce portal rules

  • The Department of consumer Affairs is set to unveil revised e-commerce rules including amendments that would press operators of online marketplace to ensure ‘algorithmic fairness’ .
  • The e-commerce rules were first notified in July 2020, and amended last May.
