# Kashi Tamil Sangamam

  • Calling upon India’s 130 crore people to break language barriers, PM Narendra Modi said on Saturday that it was the responsibility of all countrymen to preserve and enrich Tamil, one of the world’s oldest living languages.
  • Speaking at the inaugural function of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, he said Kashi and Tamil Nadu were closely associated with Lord Shiva and their confluence is as sacred as thr Ganga yamuna Sangam.
  • His remarks were seen as a reply to some outfits allegations of Hindi Chauvinism against BJP and Sangh Parivaar.

# Arunachal Pradesh

  • PM Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Donyi polo airport at Hollongi.
  • Donyi polo is the first Greenfield airport in Arunachal Pradesh that borders China and Myanmar.
  • PM Modi described the event as “the beginning of a new era of hope and opportunities” in the Northeast.
  • The Rs 640 crore Donyi polo airport covers more than 690 acres, with a 2300 metre runway kitted out with all weather day operations system and can handle airbus A20 and other similar aircrafts.

# Winter session

  • The winter session of Parliament will commence from December 7 and will continue until December 29.
  • Parliamentary affairs Minister Prahlad joshi said the session will comprise 17 sittings spread over 23 days.
  • Central government is expected to introduce the revised Digital Personal data protection bill.

# COP27

  • The draft decision text of the 27th Session of the UN climate talks (COP27), released on Saturday, carried in the mitigation clause the two key points made by India.
  • The first point is the phase down of unabated coal power.
