# Punjab

  • Fugitive Khalistan sympathiser and self styled preacher Amritpal singh dodged Punjab police’s dragnet for the second successive day on Sunday.
  • Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal and three others, including an uncle known to be his shadow, are believed to have switched to the Mercedes after abandoning a pick up truck found by Jalandhar Rural police.
  • Another 34 Waris Punjab De members and protestors attempting to disturb peace were arrested on Sunday, taking the number of arrests to 112.
  • Four arrested aides of Amritpal singh were brought to Assam’s Dibrugarh jail on Sunday.

# Jammu and Kashmir

  • Srinagar hosted two key events on Sunday related to private investments in the Union territory.
  • First was the ground breaking ceremony for a 10000 sq feet mall proposed to be built with FDI from IAE based Emmar group.
  • The second one was the Indo-UAE investors summit to explore investment opportunities in the Union territory.
  • The ₹500 crore FDI was realized from Emaar on Sunday as bhumi pujan for the mall of Srinagar was performed.

# India-Japan

  • The day long visit to India by Japanese PM Fumio Kishida will provide an opportunity to both countries to discuss how G20 and G7 can work together to handle critical global issues.
  • These issues include food and health security, Energy transitions and Economic security.
  • Kishida had hosted German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Saturday for a bilateral summit that saw both leaders welcoming International criminal Court’s arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
  • Although, the ICC warrant is unlikely to come in the way of Putin’s participation in G20 and SCO summits that India will host later this year.

# Credit Suisse

  • UBS group agreed to Buy Credit Suisse in a historic government brokered deal aimed at containing a crisis of confidence that threatened to spread across global financial markets.
  • Credit Suisse shareholders will receive 1 UBS share for every 22.5 credit Suisse shares held.
