Central government is planning to acquire for itself the powers to transfer IAS and IPS officers through central deputation.
This power will do away with the requirement of taking the approval of state governments to transfer IAS and IPS.
The department of personnel and training wrote to the states on January 12 that the Union Government proposes to amend rule 6 (deputation of cadre officers) of the Indian administrative services (cadres) rules 1954.
This central government’s move will face resistance from the states especially opposition ruled states.
