# Bengal violence cases

 

 

  • The calcutta high court on Thursday directed a CBI investigation into all cases of murder and crimes against women in connection with post poll violence in West Bengal.
  • For other cases, the court constituted a special investigation team of three senior IPS officers of the west bengal cadre.
  • The court had directed the National human rights commission (NHRC) to set up a committee to look into the allegations.

 

 

 

# US-India trade pact

 

 

  • Hopes of an India-US trade pact are off the table even as India is keen to resolve trade issues with the US, said commerce and industry minister piyush goyal.
  • United states is not looking for new trade agreements with India.
  • India and US are working to resolve issues such as non tarrif barriers etc.

 

 

 

# Defence startup challege 5.0

 

 

  • Defence minister Rajnath singh on Thursday launched the 5th edition of the Defence India start up challenge (DISC).
  • On the earlier editions of DISC, Mr. Singh said that more than 80 start ups, MSME and individual innovators had joined as winners in over 40 technological areas.

 

 

 

# Record sugar exports

 

 

  • Sugar mills have surpassed their 60 lakh tonne export target this year, making it easier for them to pay sugarcane farmers reducing arrears for this year to less than 9000 crore.
  • In recent years government is encouraging sugarcane exports and ethanol production from sugarcane.

 

 

 

# Growth forecast

 

 

  • India ratings and research on Thursday revised upwards its GDP growth forecast for 2021-22 to 9.4%.
  • The ratings agency had earlier expected the economy to grow at 9.1%.
