# High covid-19 positivity

 

 

  • Daily covid-19 cases touched a 24 day high at 41,649 cases on saturday.
  • Health secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written to several states that all districts reporting a positivity rate of more than 10% in the last few weeks ought to consider strict restrictions.
  • Only 10.8% of India’s adult population has received both doses of a covid-19 vaccine.

 

 

 

# National film archive of India (NFAI)

 

 

  • In a major acquisition, the pune based national film archive of India (NFAI) has added more than 450 glass slides of films from the golden heyday of Telugu cinema.
  • These glass slides constitute a veritable pictorial history of the golden age of telugu cinema from the late 1930s to mid 1950s.
  • NFAI is the country’s premier film repository.

 

 

 

# Pulwama mastermind

 

 

  • Two jaish-e-mohammad terrorists, including one of the masterminds of the 2019 pulwama attack was killed.
  • One of the killed terrorists was an expert in making improvised explosive devices (IED).
  • The two slain JeM terrorists are Mohammad Ismal alvi, from JeM chief Azhar massod’s family and other one sameer Dar was a local from pulwama.

 

 

 

# United nations security council

 

 

  • India will begin its month long presidency of the united nations security council.
  • India is set to hold high level meetings and briefings to bring focus on its three priorities which include maritime security, counterterrorism and peacekeeping.

 

 

 

# UN warns hunger

 

 

  • Hunger is expected to rise in 23 global hotspots in next three months.
  • Most affected will be Tigray region in Ethopia, southern madagascar, yemen, south sudan and northern nigeria.
  • The food and agriculture organisation and world food program said in a new report on “hunger hotspots”.
