The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the constitutional validity of state laws framed to allow Bull taming sport Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu.
It also allowed Buffalo racing in Karnataka (Kambala) and Bullock cart race in Maharashtra.
Supreme Court said there are sufficient provisions to prevent cruelty to animals in these ancient sports.
A five judge Constitution bench of Justices KM Joseph, Ajay Rastogi, Aniruddha Bose, Hrishikesh Roy and CT Ravikumar found no flaw in the acts framed by Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Amazon Web Services on Thursday announced that it intends to invest $12.7 billion by 2030 to boost cloud computing infrastructure in India.
AWS said the investment will contribute around $23.3 billion to India’s GDP by the end of the decade and create over 1.3 lakh jobs every year in Indian businesses related to the data centre supply chain.
These include construction, facility maintenance, engineering and telecommunications.
The company already has two data centre infrastructure regions in India – one set up in Mumbai in 2016 and other set up in Hyderabad in 2022.

SBI has become the country’s first lender to report an annual net profit of over ₹50000 crore.
The public sector bank has also overtaken HDFC bank, which was the most profitable lender in India for several years.
HDFC bank had reported the net profit of ₹44108 crore for FY 23.
SBI had declared a dividend of ₹11.3 per share.
