# Punjab

  • Khalistan sympathiser and self styled preacher Amritpal Singh, who heads Waris Punjab De organization is on the run, said Punjab police in a statement.
  • Amritpal Singh, who vehicle was part of a cavalcade, dodged the Punjab police in Shahkot-Mehatpur Area.
  • The police chase of Waris Punjab De vehicles in the village of Jalandhar was documented by live streaming and short videos on Twitter and Facebook by Amritpal Singh’s associates.
  • Soon after the crackdown, government at noon on Saturday suspended mobile internet, SMS services and dongle services in the state till noon on Sunday.
  • Many districts including Jalandhar, Nawansahar, Fazilka, Muktsar and Faridkot, imposed section 144 fearing deterioration of law and order.

  • Market determined wages for similar work are significantly lower for Women compared with those of Men in both rural and Urban India.
  • What is worse is that the gap has widened in rural areas over the last decade though it has narrowed in the towns.
  • These are Survey findings just released by the National Statistical office in the form of a report, women and Men in India, 2022.
  • According to survey, the female wage rate ranged across states from just over half to 93.7% of male wages in rural India and from just under half to 100.8% in cities.
  • A comparison from the last report in 2011-12 shows that for most states, the gender divide in wages has increased in the rural areas, on the other hand, have witnessed a narrowing of this gap in the past decade.

# India-Bangladesh

  • PM Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Haseena jointly inaugurated the ₹377 crore India- Bangladesh friendship pipeline virtually on Saturday.
  • Currently, diesel is Supplied to Bangladesh through a 512 KM rail route.
  • The 131.5 Km pipeline will supply upto 1 million tonnes per annum of diesel from Numaligarh in Assam to Bangladesh.
  • IBFP is the first cross border energy pipeline between India and Bangladesh.

  • Home ownership in England and Wales is most common for people who identify as being of an Indian ethnicity, the latest data from the 2021 census has revealed.
  • The Indian diaspora together with the Chinese community, also has the highest level of education attainment across all ethnic groups.
  • Home ownership was most common for people who identified as being of Indian ethinicity at 71%.
