# Cheetahs

  • Seven decades after the cheetah was declared extinct in India, its cousins from Africa have been brought to India in an ambitious but tricky project to restore the lost spots of glory in the country’s conservation history.
  • PM Modi released eight cheetahs into a special enclosure.
  • The release of the spotted cats was planned to coincide with PM Modi’s 72nd birthday.
  • Kuno national park is now cheetah land. Plans for introduction of lions, Zebras and giraffes wil be moved to other sanctuaries.

# New logistics policy

  • PM Modi on Saturday unveiled national logistics policy.
  • It has been introduced to make Indian products globally competitive.
  • The goal of the policy is to bring down the cost of logistics to single digit as soon as possible from the current 13-14% of GDP.
  • High logistics cost has been identified as the one of the biggest challenges for Indian products to be globally competitive.

# Egypt

  • Defence minister Rajnath singh will head to Egypt on Sunday on a three day official visit to explore new initiatives to intensify military to military engagements and focus on deepening cooperation between defence industries of the two countries.
  • Egypt is among countries that has shown interest in acquiring arms produced by India including Akash missile systems.

# SCO

  • Turkiye is seeking membership to the China led Shanghai cooperation organization.
  • Turkiye president Erdogan made the announcement after attending the SCO summit in Uzbekistan.
